how to make a pocket folder for your traveler's notebook

Happy March friends! March is an exciting time with spring on the way--I love it! it's also a time when I typically start to lose steam with my goals, so I wanted to share a pocket folder journal spread I created last year to remind me of my goals and to encourage me to keep up the good work!

The star of this project is washi tape, one of my go-to craft supplies. I love to use washi tape in my journals and planners because it’s a quick and easy way to embellish my projects without adding bulk.DIY Washi Tape Folder by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers

I created a pocket folder on one side of my journal spread to hold a photo and some notes I wrote about my goals and efforts for the month of March. Since this journal is stitched instead of ring-bound I used a cool trick to make my pocket. I'll show you how!DIY Washi Tape Folder by Aly Dosdall for We R Memory Keepers
First, I picked the washi tape I want to use from my stash. I keep my favorite washi tape rolls in the Mini Bloom Storage. With one turn of the knob I see all my washi tape at once, so it's easy to find what I'm looking for. I keep my most favorite roll of washi tape on my new Washi Tape Runner. I love that little thing!

Next, I inserted my Mini Magnetic Mat under the page I wanted to cut to make my pocket and then used the Mini Magnetic Ruler and Craft Knive to cut the page in half at an angle.

I then cut down the center of the page with my craft knife to remove the top portion of the page.

I used my Washi Tape Runner to tape the side and bottom of the page I cut and the page behind it together creating a pocket folder!

To ensure the pocket is full size I used my craft knife to separate the washi tape along the edge.

Of course, I couldn’t stop there so I embellished my pocket folder and journal spread with more rolls of washi tape. I love mixing florals, and the colors are some of my favorite for spring.

I finished off my journal spread with some stickers and ephemera from the Amy Tangerine Journal Studio collection. They match back perfectly with my washi tape.
