There are plenty of decorative file folders on the market right now, or you can make one yourself using some poster board and the We R Memory Keepers Template Studio. I recently created a giant thank you card for a speaker that visited our local cub scout pack, and wanted to share that with you today.
Next, it was time to cut the tab shape into the sides of my poster board. Again, this was easy to do using the measurements and instructions in the booklet, along with the mat, blade, and File Folder Guide. Tip: be sure to hold the guides down firmly while cutting so they don't move out of place. Thay way your cut is straight.
Then I used the scoring blade to score the file folder, and folded it in half. The score line really helps to avoid tearing your poster board at the crease.
Once I had created the custom file folder, it was time for the fun part--embellishing! To create a large enough sentiment to fit this giant card I used my Silhouette Cameo and some new Bazzill Mono Adhesive Cardstock.
Holy smokes friends! Die cutting with this adhesive-backed cardstock is a dream! No more straining my eyes and fingers trying to fit adhesive onto small intricate titles, sentiments, and shapes. And no more mess from adhesive leaking out from under anything.
I easily peeled the mono adhesive cardstock title from the backing and placed in on the front of my card on top of some patterned paper.
I placed one of the Bazzill cardstock scraps from the sheet I had just cut on my card front under the patterned paper, added some pretty stickers, and voila!
