These wood slice photo displays were so easy to make--they each took about 15 or 20 minutes (not including drying time). This is a project you could easily make in the evening after work, or while the kids are napping. It would be great for a craft night too!
I love the look of natural wood, so I didn't want to cover up too much of the original surface. And, I have no experience with, or natural talent for, hand drawing or writing.
So, I decided that applying rub-ons directly to the wood surface was the answer for me. I used rub-ons from the new Photo Lights collection by We R Memory Keepers.
They're made for the backlit photo displays in the collection, so I knew they would coordinate perfectly with my wood slice photo display.
Since I wanted the option to easily swap out my photos, I decided to glue mini wooden clothespins to the wood slice for holding my photos. I used E6000 glue, but you could also use carpenter's glue, tacky craft glue, or super glue.
I love how my wood slice photo displays turned out. They fit in perfectly with my home decor, and allow my family and I to enjoy some awesome memories when we pass by them.
