day 4: christmas cookie tube

As I mentioned before, we love to visit our friends and neighbors, sing carols, and drop off holiday goodies. Another treat we made to share this year is Cake Mix Snickerdoodles in an upcycled low cal drink mix container. This little tube is the perfect size for cookies and is food grade so no worries!

I started by trimming my paper to fit the tube (6 ¼” x 10” in this case). Then I wrapped the paper around the tube and hot glued the ends down. I cut a 2” x 10” and a 1” x 10” border to fit around the tube and hot glued them down.

I cut apart one of the journaling cards to create a “Merry Christmas” tag and hot glued it over the borders on the front of the tube. Then I cut a 2 ½” circle of paper to cover the lid. Finally, I embellished the tube with some decorative brads, jute twine, stickers and sequins.

Then I filled the decorated tube with some Cake Mix Snickerdoodles. I love to use easy recipes during the holiday season to save time. These cookies are quick and delicious. Here’s the recipe:

Cake Mix Snickerdoodles

1 vanilla or white cake mix
1 stick butter or margarine (1/2 cup)
1 egg
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350°. Add cake mix, butter, and egg in bowl and stir until well blended. Mix sugar and cinnamon together in small bowl. Shape dough into 1” balls and roll in cinnamon sugar mix. Place on ungreased cookie sheet about 2” apart. Bake for about 10 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet and place on wire rack to cool.

You're cookie tube is really cute! And the snickerdoodles sound wonderful! I made gingerbread dough yesterday so I'll be baking that today.
