albums made easy halloween page

For those of you into photo sleeve/divided page protector projects (like Project Life or Albums Made Easy), how to incorporate holidays and special occasions into your daily/weekly/or monthly pages can be a challenge.  While there's no "right" way to go about this, I thought I would share how I handle this in my albums.

I use the Albums Made Easy system and create monthly layouts that summarize our family's lives.  Some months I create two page spreads, some months I only need one page to tell our story, and some months I need three pages.  If an event, holiday, or special occasion falls in that month I will either incorporate a couple of photos into my monthly spread, create a separate single page, or create a two page spread (depending on how many photos I have and how much journaling space I need to tell the story).

Here's a Halloween single page I created using the Bewitched Journaling Cards to fit next to my October page:

You may be wondering, "What do you do if your layouts don't match up, or if you have an extra page in between two spreads?"  Good question.  While I try my best to match things up so I don't have any extra pages that go unfilled, sometimes my photo configurations don't quite add up.  My solution?  Fill the empty sleeves with patterned journaling cards.  Journaling card sets come with so many cards, and they cost just a few pennies each, so I don't feel like I'm wasting anything if I have to use them as pocket fillers once in a while.

Here are a few close ups of my Halloween layout:

Some of my go-to Albums Made Easy accents are featured on this page--journaling cards, of course, washi tape, baker's twine, and embossed stickers.  Love how this turned out!
